Born and raised in Orlando, Florida, Dan attended Winter Park High School before graduating from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia in 1971. After graduation, Dan moved to Atlanta, Georgia to work for The Trust Company of Georgia in their Management Training Program. After leaving Atlanta, Dan returned home to Central Florida to work for CNA Insurance as an Underwriting Specialist. While at CNA, Dan specialized in large construction underwriting and loss sensitive rating plans, which would eventually prepare him to service large construction accounts on the agency side. Following his tenure at CNA, Dan traveled to Hartford, Connecticut to work with Aetna Insurance before finally joining his father Joe and brother Todd back at Johnson and Company in the mid 1970’s.

Over the years Dan has held multiple positions within the agency before finally rising to President and CEO in 2008. Dan has been integral to the growth of Johnson and Company over the past several decades and his 40 plus years of industry experience have equipped him with the tools needed to successfully lead his team of insurance professionals. Dan and his wife Kathy currently reside in College Park, Florida. They have two grown children and five grandchildren.
